Mumbai, June 5: In today’s fast-paced world, pyramid schemes and multi-level marketing models often attract attention by promising quick financial gains. Many individuals, lured by the prospect of easy money, find themselves facing significant losses. To shed light on this issue, actor Ranveer Shorey is set to release his new web series, “The Pyramid Scheme.”
During a promotional interview, Shorey shared an intriguing personal anecdote, revealing that he once encountered the world of pyramid schemes firsthand.
Speaking about his experience, Ranveer Shorey said, “In my early days, I closely observed a company that operated like a pyramid scheme. At that time, my television career had not yet begun, and I participated in various events. I attended an event hosted by such a company. However, I never became a part of that scheme or invested in it, but I did witness how it operated.”
He continued, “Back then, people lacked the information and awareness we have today. The influence of the internet and social media was minimal, so many viewed such schemes as attractive career options. People were led to believe they could achieve significant success in a short time. Today, circumstances have changed, and people are much wiser. Most individuals now try to gather complete information before adopting any investment or earning model.”
Discussing his character in the new series, Shorey expressed, “I found this role to be very special. In the series, I play Manoj Srivastava, a character representing millions of ordinary people who suppress their dreams while managing life’s responsibilities. Many individuals become so engrossed in providing for their families, raising children, and meeting daily needs that their personal aspirations get sidelined.”
Ranveer added, “There is always hope within such individuals for a better life. This hope sometimes leads them to opportunities that appear very attractive from the outside. My character in the show gets caught in a pyramid scheme due to this very hope. The story reflects the emotions and struggles of a significant segment of society.”
He mentioned, “When I was offered this role, I was thrilled. It was an honor that the producers chose me for such an important character. Portraying this role was not easy, as it required authentically showcasing the emotions, hopes, and vulnerabilities of an ordinary person. The credit for successfully embodying this role goes to the show’s directors, who guided me at every step. Without their support, I might not have done justice to this character.”
“The Pyramid Scheme” is produced by The Viral Fever, with Shreyansh Pandey as the creator. The series is directed by Ashish R. Shukla and Shreyansh Pandey. It is available on Prime Video.
