Mumbai, June 21: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale responded to several pressing issues on Saturday. He discussed the upcoming NEET re-examination, Raj Thackeray’s remarks regarding Home Minister Amit Shah, and U.S. President Donald Trump’s praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Athawale dismissed Thackeray’s claim that Amit Shah is preparing for the Prime Minister’s position. He expressed confidence in the government’s preparations for the NEET re-exam and emphasized the need to de-escalate tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
On Thackeray’s statement, Athawale stated that it lacked factual basis. He believes that Amit Shah is a close ally of Prime Minister Modi, having played a crucial role in his re-election. “I don’t think Shah is working towards becoming Prime Minister. He is dedicated to serving the nation, and PM Modi is the most suitable leader for the country,” he asserted.
Athawale further noted that PM Modi is steering the nation towards development while uniting all communities. He characterized Thackeray’s comments as divisive and mentioned that his party does not focus on such statements.
Regarding the NEET re-examination, Athawale acknowledged the mental stress faced by students due to irregularities and alleged paper leaks in the previous exam. He stated, “The NEET exam is set for tomorrow. The previous exam was marred by a scandal that caused significant distress, leading some students to despair. The government has implemented numerous precautions to ensure the security of all question papers.”
He added that actions have been taken against those involved in the Maharashtra paper leak case, and those guilty should face stringent punishment. Athawale expressed hope that this time the examination would be conducted transparently and fairly without any issues.
Commenting on Trump’s praise for Modi, Athawale highlighted the long-standing positive relationship between the two leaders, which has strengthened India-U.S. ties. “I believe PM Modi and Donald Trump share a strong rapport. India and the U.S. have maintained robust relations for many years, with increasing economic cooperation,” he noted.
Athawale thanked Trump for publicly acknowledging their friendship and expressed optimism for further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic and strategic collaboration.
On international matters, Athawale remarked that any form of conflict or tension between the U.S. and Iran is detrimental to world peace. He stressed that war should not be a solution to problems and that efforts should be made to maintain global peace. PM Modi is also committed to establishing peace worldwide and resolving disputes through dialogue.
