Jaipur, June 3: In a significant operation led by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), a junior assistant named Ramesh Kumar was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹25,000 from a complainant in the Ratanpur Gram Panchayat, located in the Basseydi Panchayat Committee.
According to Police Director General Govind Gupta, the ACB office in Dholpur received a complaint stating that Ramesh Kumar was demanding a bribe of ₹26,000 to issue attendance lists under the MGNREGA scheme.
The complainant also alleged that Kumar was harassing him by halting work until the bribe was paid. A confidential verification of the complaint was conducted on June 1, 2026, confirming the demand for a bribe of ₹25,000.
Following this verification, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Chand from the Dholpur ACB, under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General (ACB) Om Prakash Meena, executed the operation on Wednesday. During the operation, Kumar was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from the complainant.
At the time of his arrest, illegal money was recovered from Kumar. Further actions are being taken under the supervision of Inspector General (ACB) S. Parimala. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the investigation is ongoing.
Previously, the ACB had arrested a patwari named Virendra Sharma in Dholpur for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The patwari was demanding this amount from a farmer in exchange for land transfer. Upon receiving the complaint, the ACB conducted a discreet investigation, confirmed the allegations, and formed a special team.
As soon as the complainant handed over the ₹50,000 to the accused, plainclothes ACB personnel surrounded him and made the arrest. The bribe amount was recovered, and he was taken into custody.
