Strict Action Promised Against Those Found Guilty in Taratala Incident: Dilip Ghosh

Kolkata, June 25: West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh has addressed the recent Taratala incident, which resulted in multiple casualties and injuries due to the collapse of a warehouse shed near the Taratala transport depot in South Kolkata. He commented on the arrest of four suspects, the suspension of eight TMC legislators, and the travel permissions for Abhishek Banerjee.

Ghosh highlighted that during the CPM era, significant fires often occurred in major markets, leading to substantial loss of life and property, with hundreds of crores worth of assets destroyed. He noted that similar structural failures, such as bridge collapses and flyover failures, have been common under the TMC government, resulting in both human casualties and financial losses.

He stated, “The collapse of the shed in Taratala is just one example of the damage to public property during the TMC’s rule. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the Taratala incident.”

Ghosh also mentioned that many illegal constructions began during the TMC’s governance, which will be thoroughly investigated. He emphasized the need for accountability and a proper inquiry into such serious construction-related accidents. Names of TMC leaders are emerging in connection with the Taratala incident, and he assured that no one would be spared after the investigation.

Regarding the High Court’s decision to deny Abhishek Banerjee permission to travel abroad for eye surgery, Ghosh remarked, “Given the ongoing cases against him, he should not be allowed to leave the country. Why didn’t he undergo the surgery while in government? The public understands the situation.”

On the suspension of eight TMC legislators, Ghosh questioned the current state of the party, stating, “Where is the TMC now, and who is suspending whom? It’s hard to comprehend. Initially, opposition legislators removed Mamata Banerjee from her position, and now she is expelling her own members. If this continues, the TMC may soon cease to exist.”
