Sanjay Raut Accuses Rebel MP Sanjay Patil of Threats, Demands Arrest

Mumbai, June 25: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP Sanjay Raut has written to Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, leveling serious accusations against rebel MP Sanjay Patil, who has joined Eknath Shinde’s faction. Raut has demanded legal action and the arrest of Patil for allegedly threatening protesters.

Raut claims that Patil, referred to as a ‘rebel’ MP, has issued threats to demonstrators, stating that his remarks are indicative of his involvement in terrorism and criminal activities. He insists that immediate action is necessary; otherwise, he will be compelled to approach the court to ensure public safety.

He further stated, “Patil’s threats have created an atmosphere of fear in society. I want to make it clear that if any political worker is attacked or killed during this time, Sanjay Patil will be fully responsible.”

In his letter to Commissioner Bharti, Raut highlighted a critical issue, noting that six MPs who separated from the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb) party have faced public outrage across the country. This defection has sparked significant anger among the people of Maharashtra, leading voters to feel cheated and protest in various locations. He emphasized that protesting and holding elected representatives accountable is a constitutional right of citizens. However, he accused Patil of threatening protesters with death.

Raut cited Patil’s alleged statements, where he warned, “Don’t mess with me. Before protesting against me, get your life insurance. I will send you straight to the crematorium or the hospital.” He further claimed, “I have killed five people before. If anyone protests against me, I will bomb them. I will enter their homes and kill them.”

In his letter, Raut insisted that an investigation should be conducted to identify these five individuals and the circumstances under which Patil allegedly killed them. Given that the accused has admitted to these actions, Raut called for an immediate murder case to be filed against him.

Raut concluded, “It is concerning that an MP has threatened to bomb. If he has made these bombs at home, an immediate search should be conducted with the help of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). If these bombs were obtained from a terrorist group, it should be treated as a serious national security issue, and he should be arrested under the UAPA for involvement in terrorist and anti-national activities.”
