Rajasthan Air Force Personnel Khemaram Kumar Dies in Assam Plane Crash

Jaipur, June 14: Khemaram Kumar, a 22-year-old Air Force personnel from Panchota village in Rajasthan’s Didwana-Kuchaman district, was killed in a plane crash in Jorhat, Assam, on Saturday. The incident occurred while the aircraft was attempting to land at the Rowriah Air Force Station. The crash of the Indian Air Force’s AN-32 transport aircraft resulted in the deaths of five personnel.

Khemaram had joined the Indian Air Force under the Agnipath scheme in December 2022, and his tenure was nearing completion.

Family members revealed that discussions about his marriage had recently begun. The tragic accident took place around 10 AM during landing.

Following the collision, the aircraft caught fire and reportedly broke into two pieces.

In addition to Khemaram, Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, and Agniveer Vayu Danish Alam also lost their lives. One co-pilot sustained injuries.

The news of Khemaram’s death has plunged Panchota village and the surrounding area into mourning.

Khemaram hailed from a family with a strong tradition of public service. His father is a farmer, and his elder brother, Rajendra Kumar, is a civil engineer. Two of his brothers are serving in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Govindram Kumar is stationed at Chennai Airport, while Manoj Kumar serves as a head constable in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

He also has a younger sister preparing for competitive exams. His cousin, Mahesh Kumar, stated that the family was planning to arrange Khemaram’s marriage after his service term ended.

“We had just started discussing the wedding at home. We never imagined we would receive such tragic news,” he said.

Colonel Rajendra Singh, the district soldier welfare officer, mentioned that Khemaram’s body is expected to arrive in Nawa on Sunday. From there, a ceremonial procession will take the body to Panchota village, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.

Arrangements are being made for the transportation of the martyr’s body by the Indian Air Force, and family members are in contact with Air Force officials.
