Mumbai, February 19: Raj Thackeray, the president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), met with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at his official residence, Nandanvan, in Mumbai. The discussion focused on the preservation of Mumbai’s architectural heritage and historical buildings.

During the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Shinde and Dr. Shrikant Shinde engaged in conversation with Thackeray. He expressed a keen interest in the rare and old photographs of Mumbai’s heritage buildings displayed at Shinde’s residence. Thackeray shared memories and anecdotes related to various historical sites depicted in the photographs and praised efforts to preserve the city’s architectural legacy.

According to a statement released by the Deputy Chief Minister’s office, they discussed in detail the heritage photography of Mumbai and architectural conservation. The statement noted that Shinde informed Thackeray about the policies created to preserve and promote heritage-style structures in the city.

Nandanvan, the official residence of Deputy Chief Minister Shinde, is itself considered a property of historical and architectural significance. Thackeray observed the rare and old photographs exhibited on the premises and discussed their historical importance.

During the meeting, Shinde mentioned that as Chief Minister, he had taken policy steps to promote heritage-style construction and preserve the city’s traditional architectural identity. Thackeray also inspected the areas around the bungalow that have been developed in a similar architectural style to maintain the property’s heritage identity.

Thackeray commended the preservation of historical elements at the residence and the efforts to maintain Mumbai’s architectural heritage. This meeting is considered significant as it marked the first interaction between Shinde and Thackeray following political differences in the recent Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.

In the municipal elections, the Shinde faction, which contested in alliance with the BJP, secured 29 seats, while Thackeray’s MNS, allied with Shiv Sena (UBT), won six seats.
