Manipur Government Empowers Youth Through Entrepreneurship Development Program

Imphal, September 1: The Planning Department of the Manipur government hosted a closing ceremony for a seven-day “Entrepreneurship Development Program” at the Imphal Convention Center on Monday. This event was part of the Chief Minister‘s Entrepreneurship Support Scheme, which selected 730 candidates for training.

During the ceremony, certificates were awarded to the participants. The event featured key speakers including Ahanthem Subhash, Director of Institutional Finance for the Manipur government, who served as the chief guest. Dr. Yumnaam Jayanta, Executive Director of NIELIT Imphal, and Dr. Thangjam Dabli, Chairman and Managing Director of Babina Group of Companies, were present as guests of honor. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. R.K. Radhashana, Director of the Planning Department.

Dr. Radhashana noted that the selected candidates underwent training at five to six different training and incubation centers. They received practical training, along with financial and technical insights, to assist them in launching and managing their proposed businesses.

Following the completion of the program, the Planning Department will write to relevant banks to assess the candidates’ applications. Banks will evaluate beneficiaries by inspecting business sites and conducting necessary verifications before approving loans. Under this scheme, banks will provide loans covering up to 65% of the project cost, with a 30% subsidy granted after bank approval. The remaining 5% will be contributed by the beneficiaries themselves.

Dr. Radhashana emphasized that the Planning Department will coordinate with beneficiaries and assist them with banking and financial matters as they advance their entrepreneurial ventures. He stated that the government is committed to empowering youth and creating new employment opportunities through such initiatives. This scheme is expected to be a milestone in promoting entrepreneurship in Manipur.
