Bhopal, May 2: Amidst soaring temperatures, several districts in Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience a shift in weather conditions in the coming days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) center in Bhopal, while many divisions have remained largely dry in recent days, significant atmospheric changes are now occurring. These include multiple cyclonic circulations and low-pressure areas extending from Rajasthan to the northeast.
A large portion of the state will be under a watch for light thunderstorms, with wind speeds potentially reaching up to 40 km/h. This alert covers Bhopal, Bairagarh, Gwalior, Datia, Ratangarh, Shajapur, Sehore, and Damoh. The eastern and southern belts, including Jabalpur, Bhedaghat, Katni, Umaria, Bandhavgarh, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Kanha, and Anuppur, are also included in the forecast.
The IMD center indicated that areas like Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Niwari, Orchha, and Tikamgarh may witness light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.
Residents in several regions should prepare for moderate to intense weather activities during the afternoon and evening. In Raisen, Sanchi, and Bhimbetka, there is a possibility of moderate thunderstorms with wind speeds reaching up to 60 km/h. Hailstorms are also likely in these areas.
Similar conditions are expected in Guna, Vidisha, Udaygiri, Ashoknagar, Sagar, Rajgarh, and Narsinghpur, where residents may face moderate to light rainfall accompanied by lightning, hail, and strong winds of up to 50 km/h.
In Raisen, the maximum temperature has reached 43.2 degrees Celsius, while Damoh recorded a minimum of 15.8 degrees Celsius. Over the past 24 hours, scattered rainfall has been reported in Shahdol, Chambal, Jabalpur, and Sagar divisions, with notable rainfall of 8.6 mm in Panagar and 8 mm in Sleemanabad.
Looking ahead, the forecast suggests a slight increase in maximum temperatures by about 2 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours. However, a gradual decline in temperatures is expected afterward, with a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius anticipated over the next three days.
Officials have advised residents to stay indoors during thunderstorms and secure vulnerable structures to prevent damage from strong winds.
