Messi Makes History Ahead of 39th Birthday, Focuses on Fitness and Performance

Dallas, June 23: Football legend and Argentina captain Lionel Messi has once again made history. Just two days before his 39th birthday, Messi became the all-time leading goal scorer in FIFA World Cup history. Following this remarkable achievement, Messi emphasized that he does not dwell on his age; instead, he concentrates on staying fit and performing at his best.

In a match held in Dallas, Argentina defeated Austria 2-0. Messi scored in the first half, surpassing the previous record of 16 goals held by Germany’s Miroslav Klose. He later added another goal during injury time, bringing his total World Cup goals to 18.

After the match, Messi stated, “I don’t spend time thinking about my age. My focus is on keeping myself fit and healthy. I feel physically good, and perhaps that’s why I’m able to perform better.”

With this victory, Argentina tops Group J with 6 points, three points ahead of Austria. The reigning world champions have already secured their place in the Round of 32. When asked about his participation in the final group match against Jordan on Saturday, Messi mentioned that the final decision would be made by coach Lionel Scaloni.

Messi also acknowledged that missing a penalty in the ninth minute affected the team temporarily. He noted that they squandered two or three easy chances, but the players responded well and improved their gameplay.

He added, “Our team competes with full strength in every match. Sometimes we play better, sometimes less so, but one thing is certain: regardless of the opponent, we fight hard for victory in every game.”
