Kozhikode, March 25: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi intensified his attack on the BJP and the ruling LDF in Kerala on Wednesday, accusing both parties of having an internal understanding. He mockingly referred to this alleged alliance as the “CJP,” meaning “Communist People’s Party.”
Rahul Gandhi addressed a large rally virtually from Kozhikode. His virtual presence was due to his mother, Sonia Gandhi, being hospitalized the previous night, prompting him to cancel his scheduled tour.
In his speech, Rahul alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF) are collaborating in the state. He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shielded Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan from actions by central agencies, while opposition leaders in other states face constant scrutiny.
This statement from Rahul is expected to heighten the electoral atmosphere in Kerala, where the Congress-led UDF is positioning itself against both the BJP and the LDF.
Alongside his political attacks, Rahul Gandhi also presented five key guarantees that would be implemented if they come to power. These include free travel for all women on KSRTC buses, monthly assistance of ₹1,000 for college-going girls, and increasing the social pension to ₹3,000 per month.
Additionally, he promised a health insurance cover of up to ₹25 lakh for every family in honor of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, and interest-free loans of up to ₹5 lakh for youth seeking self-employment.
