Davanagere, March 31: The Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its manifesto for the Davanagere South by-election on Tuesday. Following the launch, senior party leader and opposition head R. Ashok urged voters to support the BJP to remove the corrupt and destructive Congress government and dismantle the bribery-driven administration.
During his address, Ashok accused the Congress of betraying minorities in the constituency and expressed confidence that their votes would go to the BJP. He announced that the party has nominated a Dalit leader, Srinivas T. Daskariyappa, and expressed hope that the candidate would serve the community effectively.
Ashok alleged that Congress workers had anticipated that a common party member would be given a ticket in this by-election, but their expectations were dashed. He noted that backward classes, Dalits, and minorities were not given tickets, with Muslims also being sidelined. He recalled that during the late Shamanur’s tenure, it was claimed that minorities would receive tickets, but now they are dissatisfied.
He further claimed that by once again granting a ticket to the Shamanur family, opportunities for others would be limited for at least one or two generations. He stated that if Congress loses here, only then will minorities have a chance. Members of the Shamanur family are already ministers and MPs, and now their son has received a ticket. The family seeks power, while the public desires development.
Ashok criticized Congress leadership, pointing out that the candidate supported by D.K. Shivakumar has left for Kerala, while Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan has also exited the scene. He humorously remarked that there is a star campaigner there, but here, there is no star, only ‘Gabbar Singh.’
