New Delhi, February 24: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, made a compassionate stop on his way to Bhopal to assist an injured auto rickshaw driver. Noticing the driver in distress, he halted his convoy and stepped out of his vehicle to offer help.

During this encounter, Gandhi instructed his aides to ensure that the injured driver received proper medical assistance. The driver recounted, “Rahul Gandhi asked me how I got hurt. I explained everything to him, and he advised me to go to the hospital for treatment.”

Meanwhile, Gandhi, along with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, is heading to Bhopal to lead a significant protest against the interim India-U.S. trade framework. The party claims this agreement severely harms Indian farmers by opening the doors to cheap American imports.

Jitu Patwari, the President of the Madhya Pradesh Congress, announced the protest, stating, “On February 24, 2026, in Bhopal, Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi will raise their voices against the injustices faced by farmers due to the India-U.S. trade agreement.”

Patwari accused the central government of succumbing to American pressure, asserting that prices for key crops like soybean, cotton, and maize have already fallen due to this agreement. He described it as a “compromise deal” imposed “with a sword over the neck,” directly affecting farmers in Madhya Pradesh and families across the state.

He emphasized that the event on February 24 reflects the party’s commitment to fighting for farmers’ rights nationwide. This protest will take the form of a farmers’ conference in Bhopal, with targeted campaigns planned in sensitive states such as Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Bihar.

Mukesh Nayak, the media in-charge of the Madhya Pradesh Congress and a former minister, mentioned that the program will commence around 2 PM with the arrival of Kharge and Gandhi in Bhopal. He also noted that two large domes have been erected at the venue, along with a grand stage expected to accommodate around 250 leaders and officials.
