Kolkata, August 27: Gaurav Vallabh, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has expressed his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to promote sports. He announced plans to sing all six verses of ‘Vande Mataram’ near Jadavpur University on Raksha Bandhan.
Recently, Prime Minister Modi addressed young athletes across the nation through a virtual platform during the ‘Khelo India Dialogue – A Talk on Sports with Prime Minister Modi.’ He praised the successful organization of the Khelo India dialogue and acknowledged the contributions of his cabinet colleagues, state chief ministers, and volunteers from ‘My India.’
Vallabh emphasized Modi’s vision of integrating the youth into the commitment of a developed India by 2047. He believes that “those who play will thrive.” Modi had previously highlighted a comprehensive approach to sports during his Independence Day speech at the Red Fort. India is aiming to host the 2036 Olympics, with the upcoming Commonwealth Games set to take place in 2030. The Prime Minister’s goal is to represent sports as a symbol of national unity and integrity.
The BJP leader remarked that no political party should engage in narrow politics concerning the national anthem, national animal, or national song. He criticized those who claim they will sing only part of the national anthem, calling it a disrespect to the anthem and India’s glorious tradition. He stressed that the national anthem strengthens the unity and integrity of the nation, and any disregard for it would be considered appeasement politics.
He concluded by stating that respect for the national anthem, national heritage, and the tricolor must be upheld in the country.
