Mumbai, August 8: Maharashtra Congress leader Bhai Jagatap has responded to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s comments regarding Rahul Gandhi‘s student-focused initiative, ‘Students’ Echo.’ He emphasized that Rahul Gandhi is the only individual consistently fighting against the central government, becoming a voice for the people and addressing student issues seriously.
Tharoor mentioned that ‘Students’ Echo’ did not receive the expected support from students and suggested that Congress should engage in self-reflection. He acknowledged that the party may have failed to connect with the youth, particularly Generation Z.
In a conversation in Mumbai, Jagatap highlighted that students had protested for 37 days at Jantar Mantar, and their voices resonated globally. He noted that Rahul Gandhi has been actively working on issues related to students, youth, women, and the unemployed across all states for the past two years. This is not a new development, and Tharoor may not be aware of it.
Jagatap humorously remarked that Tharoor could have stood shoulder to shoulder with Rahul Gandhi but never did. He confidently stated that Rahul Gandhi is the only person fighting against a 12-13 year old government that has failed the nation and is exhibiting authoritarianism. The public is aware of Rahul Gandhi’s struggle.
He added that people are connected to him. During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, millions demonstrated their support for Rahul Gandhi. All senior Congress leaders possess the capability to raise public issues in Parliament and fight against the government.
Regarding Prime Minister Modi’s address at the IIT Delhi convocation, Jagatap praised IIT Delhi as the country’s best institution. He welcomed the Prime Minister’s initiative to engage with students. However, he suggested that the discussions on supercomputing, advanced technology, and AI should not be limited to IIT alone.
Concerning the FCRA bill, Jagatap stated that if a bill is being introduced to strengthen the country, the Prime Minister and the Home Minister should first present it in the House.
