Controversy at Jadavpur University: Anti-National Slogans Erased, Legal Action Threatened by Dilip Ghosh

New Town, August 31: A controversy has erupted at Jadavpur University over alleged anti-national slogans. West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh has taken a firm stance on the issue. He stated that while individuals have the right to express their views and write slogans in a democratic setup, no one is permitted to chant or write slogans against the nation.

Speaking to reporters, Ghosh emphasized that there has been a longstanding tradition in Bengal of expressing political thoughts and slogans on walls. Organizations that operate democratically have used this medium to convey their messages. However, he made it clear that any expression against the nation, whether at a university or elsewhere, will not be tolerated.

Ghosh confirmed that the alleged anti-national slogans at Jadavpur University have been identified and erased. He warned that if anyone attempts to write such slogans again in the future, strict legal action will be taken against them.

He reiterated that in a democracy, people should have the right to express their opinions and raise slogans. This tradition has been part of Bengal’s culture. The anti-national slogan has been removed, and no one should attempt to write such slogans again, or they will face legal consequences.

During the discussion, Ghosh also commented on leaders from the Trinamool Congress (TMC). When asked about TMC MP Derek O’Brien being summoned by the police, he remarked that some TMC leaders previously believed they could act without regard for the law or courts. They will have to face the consequences, and the law will take its course.

In response to TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s social media posts, Ghosh stated that no one is being prevented from going out. He noted that MLAs and MPs are attending assembly meetings and performing their duties normally. According to him, expressing dissatisfaction is also a right in a democracy, so there is no need for anyone to be afraid.

Ghosh politically attacked Abhishek Banerjee, suggesting that leaders who do not engage with the public and lack direct contact with the people may naturally feel apprehensive about reaching out to them.
