Prayagraj, August 8: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi participated in the ‘Students’ Echo’ program in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on Saturday. During his address, he engaged with students and gathered their feedback. He claimed that only 12 out of every 1,000 youths manage to secure permanent jobs.
While speaking to the students, Gandhi expressed his happiness about returning to Prayagraj, where his family once resided. He noted that the city was once a center of knowledge, with Allahabad University being among the best in the country. “I am here to discuss pain, data, and wealth,” he said. “India has 400 million youths, who are the strength of this nation. While people talk about China, America, and Russia, they pale in comparison to the potential of India’s youth in the 21st century. The progress of any country in this century depends on two factors: the potential of its youth, which you possess, and the data you generate.”
Gandhi emphasized that India not only has a young population but also generates the most data globally. “Every Indian uses about one gigabyte of data daily. Future progress will hinge on this data and your capabilities. Youth and data together will shape the economy of the 21st century,” he stated. He criticized the education system, highlighting that families invest millions in education, yet only a mere 12 out of 1,000 graduates find stable employment.
He further lamented that people’s data is often taken by large corporations, leaving individuals to create reels and content. “Reels are the new addiction of the 21st century. You might get lost in this addiction, but it won’t lead to jobs. Employment opportunities are scarce in this country,” he added.
During the discussion, a student expressed gratitude for organizing the ‘Students’ Echo’ program and detailed issues regarding paper leaks in Uttar Pradesh. The student mentioned that since the BJP government took office, there have been continuous paper leaks, citing various recruitment exams from 2017 to 2023.
