Notorious Criminal Arrested in Kushinagar After Gunfight with Police

Kushinagar, August 31: A notorious criminal with a bounty of ₹50,000 was arrested following a gunfight with police in Kushinagar. The encounter occurred near the Jhadwa railway underpass in the Tarayasujan police station area. During the police’s counteraction, the criminal, Ashu Yadav, sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. He was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. Police recovered a pistol, magazine, and cartridges from his possession during the encounter.

According to police reports, Ashu Yadav hails from Bindwalia village in the Kuchaykot police station area of Bihar. He was wanted in connection with an attack on police and had been evading arrest, leading to the bounty on his head. Recently, there was an incident where a truck attempted to run over a police team conducting checks on the highway, resulting in serious injuries to one officer, who is currently receiving treatment at Gorakhpur Medical College.

It has been reported that police had previously arrested three of the four suspects involved in this case, while Ashu Yadav remained at large. After his arrest, he was held at the police station. During questioning, he complained of abdominal pain, prompting police to transport him to the hospital on a motorcycle for medical care.

While en route, Ashu allegedly managed to draw a government-issued pistol from a police officer’s holster and attempted to flee. When the police team tried to apprehend him, he opened fire. In response, the police returned fire, injuring Ashu in the leg. He was subsequently apprehended at the scene.

Following the encounter, police recovered the government pistol along with a magazine, eight live cartridges, and spent cartridges. Ashu was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

The operation involved personnel from the Tamkuhi Raj and Tarayasujan police stations, among others. Police are now interrogating the suspect to gather information about his criminal history and the incident involving the attack on the police team. Additionally, legal action is being pursued against him for fleeing with the government pistol and firing at police.
