Rahul Gandhi Condemns Police Violence Against Students Demanding Educational Reforms

New Delhi, July 20: Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP, condemned the violent clashes between students protesting at Jantar Mantar and security forces, including the Delhi Police. He stated that students raising legitimate concerns about serious issues in the education system were met with batons and detention.

In a sharp video message shared on social media, Gandhi labeled the Prime Minister as the most anti-youth leader in India’s history. He criticized the government for failing to hold the ineffective Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, accountable.

Gandhi highlighted alarming statistics regarding paper leaks, revealing that 152 incidents have occurred, affecting approximately 7.5 million students. Despite this, no perpetrators have faced justice. Instead, hardworking youth are being punished.

He accused the criminals behind these leaks of roaming free while students advocating for their rights are being dragged, beaten, and detained. “Our youth on the streets are not criminals; they are protesting for their rightful demands,” he asserted.

Gandhi pointed out that students were peacefully demonstrating for improvements in education quality, exam reforms, and employment opportunities. However, the government chose a path of repression instead. Despite repeated paper leak incidents, the ministers remain in their positions. The central government must address the demands of these young people.

In a related statement, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took to social media platform X, urging the BJP government to review its policies and incompetence instead of resorting to violence against children. She noted that the NEET exam faced a paper leak, was canceled, and further irregularities were reported in the re-NEET. She questioned why these issues persist despite the Prime Minister’s promised oversight and called for a detailed discussion in Parliament on this matter, emphasizing that the Prime Minister must listen to the concerns of millions of young people and provide answers.
