New Delhi, July 20: The Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) staged a protest at Jantar Mantar in the national capital today. In response, Additional Police Commissioner Rajeev Ranjan appealed to the demonstrators to assist the police in maintaining law and order.
In a video message, the Additional Police Commissioner urged all protesters to exercise restraint and cooperate with the police to ensure peace and order. He requested that the demonstrations remain peaceful, avoiding any illegal or violent activities, and that participants adhere to the legal instructions provided by the police on duty.
The message further advised the public to refrain from believing or spreading rumors, misinformation, or unverified information through social media platforms. Citizens were encouraged to rely on credible sources for information and to support the Delhi Police in maintaining peace, harmony, and law and order.
On Monday, a delegation from the CJP met with Union Health Minister JP Nadda. Following the meeting, the CJP stated that they did not receive any concrete assurances regarding their demands. They indicated that the protest would continue until satisfactory responses were provided.
In contrast, JP Nadda shared a photo from the meeting, noting that for the first time, the protesters proposed dialogue with the government. He mentioned that discussions began at 11:50 AM and continued in a cordial atmosphere. The delegation had a detailed verbal discussion before submitting a written petition around 4 PM.
Nadda further requested all protesters to conclude their sit-in and assist the administration in restoring normalcy.
Meanwhile, the CJP protests continue to receive support from opposition parties. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal urged the government to engage with the students’ interests in mind. Senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Atishi have also been actively participating in the protests, voicing their support for the CJP’s demands.
