New Delhi, June 15: BJP spokesperson R.P. Singh has reacted to the recent statements made by Congress leader Ashok Gehlot regarding the agreement between the U.S. and Israel. Singh asserted that Congress has not moved beyond the mindset of the Emergency era.
He welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran, stating that it would promote global peace and stability, providing relief to the world economy.
In an interview with a news agency, Singh noted that the agreement for a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran has brought a sigh of relief to the entire world. He pointed out that prolonged tensions had created uncertainty in global markets, impacting oil prices and trade activities.
Singh expressed hope that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would normalize crude oil supply, positively affecting the international economy.
He also sharply criticized Gehlot’s claim that if Indira Gandhi were alive, she would have banned parties like the BJP. Singh argued that such statements reveal Congress’s mindset.
He accused Congress of still being trapped in the Emergency mentality and possessing a mindset that undermines democratic values. Singh remarked that the statements from Congress leaders suggest they only want their party to exist in the country and are unwilling to accept political diversity.
Singh also responded to controversial comments made by Samajwadi Party MP Javed Ali Khan, who allegedly stated that the majority society in the country has become ‘toxic.’ Singh condemned this remark, stating that Khan needs to understand the essence of Hindutva.
He emphasized that Hindutva does not symbolize hatred or animosity; rather, it represents tolerance, inclusivity, and the spirit of unity. Singh argued that Indian culture and the tradition of Hindutva are based on sacrifice, patience, and social harmony, making it inappropriate and misleading to label it as toxic.
Additionally, Singh addressed comments made by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi regarding rebel TMC leader Sayani Ghosh. He stated that Owaisi’s remarks reflect his political thinking, as he seems to accept conditions where democratic rights are violated, and people lack the freedom to express themselves in a climate of fear. Singh reiterated that the BJP believes in democracy, freedom of expression, and political diversity, asserting that all citizens should have equal rights to voice their opinions.
Owaisi had sarcastically remarked, “One eye on Kaaba and the other on Medina, now everyone is sitting together for tea.”
