Bhopal, June 30: The Ratibad police in Bhopal have filed a case against Punjab Kings cricketer Shashank Singh and his father, retired Special Director General (DG) Shailesh Singh. The allegations come from a chef employed at their residence, who claims he was assaulted, verbally abused, and had his mobile phone forcibly taken.
According to the FIR, Shailesh Singh, Shashank Singh, and their driver, identified as Mishra, have been named as accused. The case has been registered under sections 296(B), 115(2), and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and an investigation is underway.
The complainant, Vipendra Singh Tomar, hails from Rewa district and began working as a chef at the family’s bungalow in Neelbad on June 25. He alleges that he was promised a monthly salary of ₹15,000 along with food and accommodation.
In his written complaint, Tomar stated, “After being assured of salary, food, and accommodation, I agreed to work there and started living at their home.”
However, Tomar claims that he was later told his work was unsatisfactory, and his mobile phone was confiscated. He reported to the police, “After preparing breakfast on June 28, I asked Shailesh Singh for my mobile phone back, but he refused. Frustrated, I went to my room.”
The complainant further alleged that “Shailesh Singh, his son Shashank Singh, and their driver came into my room, hurled abuses, and physically assaulted me. After beating me, they forcibly threw me out of the house.”
Tomar also accused them of transferring ₹1,000 from his mobile phone, claiming it was for food and accommodation expenses. He stated, “After the incident, I went to the police station with my relatives to file a complaint and seek legal action.”
Shashank Singh plays for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), while his father, Shailesh Singh, is a retired Special DG of the Madhya Pradesh police.
The police are currently investigating these allegations. Attempts to reach retired IPS officer Shailesh Singh for a comment have not yet yielded a response.
