New Delhi, June 29: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated on Monday that India strongly condemns the airstrikes conducted by Pakistan in Afghanistan, which resulted in the deaths of numerous civilians, including women and children.
The ministry emphasized, “India condemns the airstrikes by Pakistan in Afghan territory, which have led to the loss of many innocent lives, including women and children. This blatant aggression by Pakistan is an attack on Afghanistan’s sovereignty and poses a direct threat to regional peace and stability.”
Furthermore, the ministry remarked, “This reflects Pakistan’s irresponsible behavior and its futile attempts to project its internal failures onto others through acts of violence beyond its borders. India expresses its condolences to the Afghan families who have lost loved ones, prays for the swift recovery of the injured, and reaffirms its unwavering support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
Taliban spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat confirmed on Monday that at least 36 civilians, including women and children, were killed in the Pakistani military airstrikes in the Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar provinces, with 163 others injured.
According to reports, Fitrat stated that the attacks carried out by the Pakistani military on Sunday night in Paktika’s Giyan district, Paktia’s Tsamkani district, and Kunar’s Manogai district resulted in the deaths of 36 civilians and injuries to 163 others, along with the complete destruction of three residential homes.
Fitrat noted that Pakistani military jets bombed a civilian house in the Mandokhel village of Tsamkani district, killing an elderly man and a child while injuring several family members. He alleged that when local residents gathered for rescue efforts, a second bombing occurred in the area, resulting in the deaths of 28 villagers and injuring 158 others.
He further reported that another civilian home in the Walust village of Giyan district was bombed, leading to the deaths of six individuals, mostly women and children. Additionally, he mentioned that an airstrike targeted a civilian house in the Barolo village of Manogai district, causing significant property damage.
Earlier in the day, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid condemned the Pakistani airstrikes in Afghan provinces, labeling them as “cowardly aggression.”
