New Delhi, August 31: R.P. Singh, the national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), addressed several pressing issues, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Uzbekistan, concerns surrounding the NEET-PG examination, comments from RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and political developments in Punjab and West Bengal.
Regarding Prime Minister Modi’s trip to Uzbekistan, Singh expressed pride in the honor bestowed upon the Prime Minister, stating it reflects positively on the entire nation. He emphasized that Modi’s efforts would strengthen strategic ties between India and Uzbekistan.
Singh raised concerns about power outages and technical issues reported during the NEET-PG 2026 examination. He highlighted the seriousness of repeated power cuts at examination centers and the lack of generator backup. He urged state governments and examination agencies to take necessary measures to prevent such situations in the future.
In response to Mohan Bhagwat’s recent remarks, Singh reiterated that Bhagwat advocates for an inclusive Hindu society both domestically and internationally. He clarified that Hinduism is not merely a religion but a way of life that emphasizes unity among all.
Agreeing with Supreme Court Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan’s statement on students’ rights to ask questions, Singh affirmed that it is the responsibility of the judiciary, executive, and political leaders to address the queries of the youth.
On security concerns regarding the DMK government and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Singh stated that security should be based on threat perception. He insisted that politics should not interfere in security matters, which should be determined by professional assessments.
Addressing ongoing political discussions surrounding a meeting between Union Minister C.R. Patil and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, Singh clarified that it was not a political meeting. He confirmed that the BJP is preparing to contest all 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly elections independently.
Commenting on the alleged ‘purification’ controversy following Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s event in Haldwani, Singh criticized Congress for its stance on Dalit politics, urging them to reflect on their history. He claimed that the purification actions were not a result of Kharge’s presence but rather a response to slogans raised at the event.
Lastly, addressing the FIR filed against former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Singh stated that it is a part of the legal process. He emphasized that the law is equal for all citizens, and the same procedures applicable to ordinary citizens should also apply to public representatives and those in constitutional positions.
