Punjab Government Withdraws Security from Harbhajan Singh Amid Political Turmoil

Jalandhar, April 26: The Punjab government has withdrawn security for former Indian cricket star and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh. His personal assistant confirmed this decision today.

Mandeep Singh, Harbhajan’s PA, stated that the government has removed the security personnel stationed outside the cricketer’s residence in Jalandhar.

Harbhajan Singh was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Recently, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha left AAP to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Chadha mentioned that he was among seven MPs making the switch from AAP to BJP, including Harbhajan Singh.

In light of Chadha’s claims regarding Harbhajan’s departure from AAP, the Punjab government has rescinded the cricketer’s Z-plus security.

The news of seven MPs leaving AAP for BJP has caused unrest within the party. Senior leaders held a press conference attacking Raghav Chadha, Harbhajan Singh, and the other defectors. Party workers have also expressed their discontent.

On Saturday, AAP activists protested outside the residences of Harbhajan Singh, Ashok Mittal, and Rajinder Gupta. They spray-painted the word “traitor” on the walls outside Harbhajan’s home, and similar messages were found at the residences of other MPs who left AAP.

So far, Harbhajan Singh has not commented on this situation.
