Lucknow, June 17: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has targeted the BJP regarding the investigation into the Ram Temple donation scandal. She accused the BJP of politicizing the name of Lord Ram and Sanatan Dharma, stating that the public is now holding them accountable. Chaturvedi also responded to statements made by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
On the SIT investigation into the Ram Temple donation scandal, Chaturvedi remarked that the inquiry began only after public outrage had escalated. She emphasized that there could be no greater sin than the allegation that the BJP is stealing money from devotees and worshippers. Those who seek votes in the name of Sanatan Dharma have been politically exploiting the name of Lord Ram, she claimed.
Referring to the upcoming Ayodhya elections in 2024, she noted that the temple’s inauguration was rushed for political gain, but the public has already made its decision. She stated that Lord Ram has sent a message that it is time to remove those who engage in politics in his name and lack transparency in temple-related matters.
When asked about the BJP being labeled as a party of Hindutva and Ram, she stated that the party loves the political benefits derived from Lord Ram and Sanatan Dharma, rather than the deities themselves. She accused them of using religious faith for vote bank politics.
Commenting on the potential inclusion of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party in the India alliance, Chaturvedi remarked that Owaisi’s party is limited in scope, but its activities in other states appear politically motivated. She alleged that wherever the BJP weakens, Owaisi’s party is promoted to polarize votes.
Chaturvedi expressed confidence that the people of Uttar Pradesh are wise and will not allow such attempts to succeed. The public will stand with forces that uphold democracy and the Constitution.
In response to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statements regarding action against land mafia, Chaturvedi urged him to also address issues like development, employment, and inflation. She pointed out that the public has been struggling with inflation, corruption, examination controversies, and other issues for years. The people want to know when discussions on development, unity, and progress will take place, emphasizing the need to focus on real issues rather than those disconnected from public priorities.
Regarding Rahul Gandhi’s statement about Congress respecting regional parties, Chaturvedi noted that with being a large party comes great responsibility. She highlighted that regional parties have strong support in their states and expect larger parties to respect them and unite in struggle. However, she criticized the apparent campaigns against coalition partners in states like West Bengal and Kerala, which have weakened public trust in the alliance.
