Prince Aga Khan Meets Home Minister Amit Shah to Strengthen Cooperation Across Various Sectors

New Delhi, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Prince Rahim Aga Khan, the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network, met with Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday in New Delhi. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation across various sectors.

Shah expressed his enthusiasm for the meeting on the social media platform X, stating, “It was a pleasure to meet His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan in New Delhi. India values its relationship with the Aga Khan Development Network, which is based on a commitment to humanitarian development.”

The conversation covered key areas such as social development, irrigation, cooperative societies, natural farming—including millets—and solar energy. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing these partnerships for sustainable development and the welfare of humanity.

Earlier in the day, Prince Aga Khan also met President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. During their discussion, President Murmu praised the initiatives undertaken by the Aga Khan Development Network.

The President’s office shared on X, “His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President commended the work of the Aga Khan Development Network, highlighting how non-profit organizations collaborating with the government can improve the quality of life for people.”

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also held a meeting with Prince Aga Khan, where they discussed strengthening cooperation between India and the Aga Khan Development Network in areas such as sports and education.

During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the need to eradicate extremism and underscored that dialogue is the path to peace, stability, and shared prosperity. The Vice President’s office noted on X, “His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan met with the Honorable Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan today. They discussed the Aga Khan Development Network’s contributions to water and sanitation, women-led self-help groups, education, and community development, and appreciated its impactful efforts in East Africa and Afghanistan.”

The discussions highlighted a mutual commitment to fostering collaboration in various sectors, aiming for a more sustainable future.
