New Delhi, September 30 (Daily Kiran) : Union Minister Lalit Singh has come to the defense of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, sharply criticizing Congress and its leader Sonia Gandhi. Singh stated that Kumar does not need validation from anyone, following remarks made by Gandhi during a Congress Working Committee meeting.
“During the Congress meeting, Sonia Gandhi made comments about Nitish Kumar that surprised me. He is not dependent on her certification,” Singh remarked. He emphasized that Kumar has established himself as a ‘development man’ in both Bihar and the nation, claiming that his leadership over the past two decades has transformed the state’s fortunes.
Singh asserted that Kumar is well-respected and does not require endorsements from Gandhi or her son, Rahul Gandhi. “People affectionately call him the ‘development man’,” he said.
The minister also criticized Congress and the opposition alliance regarding their claims of defending democracy. He pointed out that it was during Congress’s rule that the country faced a state of emergency. “It’s amusing to hear the Congress party, which has dismantled democracy, now speak about it. Who imposed the emergency and why? It was Congress that did so to remain in power. What democracy are they talking about?” Singh questioned.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the country is progressing towards becoming a developed and self-reliant India under his leadership. Singh added that Modi has established democracy in the nation.
Additionally, he addressed concerns regarding the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Review (SIR), criticizing Congress for opposing necessary electoral reforms. “The Election Commission’s responsibility is to ensure fair voting, which requires accurate voter lists. This is why SIR is being conducted, and you oppose it,” he stated.
Singh concluded by labeling Congress as the biggest enemy of democracy. “If there is a significant adversary to democracy, it is the Congress party,” he declared.
