
New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : On September 11, leaders from various sectors, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and S. Jaishankar, paid tribute to Acharya Vinoba Bhave on his birth anniversary. A renowned freedom fighter and social reformer, Bhave is celebrated as the father of the Bhoodan movement.
Om Birla remarked on social media, stating, “Acharya Vinoba Bhave’s life exemplified sacrifice, dedication, and public service. Influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, he actively participated in the freedom struggle and later embraced the ideals of village self-governance, self-reliance, non-violence, and social reconstruction. After independence, recognizing the issues of land distribution and rural society, he initiated the Bhoodan movement, urging landowners to voluntarily donate a portion of their land to landless families. This effort evolved into a broader Bhoodan-Gramdan movement.”
Birla further emphasized Bhave’s belief that social change is achievable not just through laws and power, but through personal transformation and voluntary cooperation. He traveled across the country, spreading messages of non-violence, collaboration, sacrifice, and social responsibility. “On this day, we respectfully remember the great thinker and proponent of the Bhoodan movement,” he added.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also took to social media, expressing, “On the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter and Bharat Ratna recipient Acharya Vinoba Bhave, I pay my humble respects.”
Manohar Lal, another Union Minister, shared, “I pay heartfelt homage to the great freedom fighter and renowned social reformer Acharya Vinoba Bhave on his birth anniversary. Your inspiring thoughts and ideal life will always guide us.”
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar posted, “On the birth anniversary of Acharya Vinoba Bhave, a leader of the Bhoodan movement and a freedom fighter, I pay tribute. His dedication to non-violence and social service remains a source of inspiration for us all.”
Pankaj Chaudhary, the Union Minister and BJP president of Uttar Pradesh, expressed, “On the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter and proponent of the Bhoodan movement, Bharat Ratna Acharya Vinoba Bhave, I pay my respects. His life of sacrifice and commitment to selfless service will continue to inspire future generations.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also shared his thoughts, stating, “I pay humble tribute on the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Acharya Vinoba Bhave, who conveyed messages of social justice and compassion through the Bhoodan movement. His life of simplicity and purity will always serve as an inspiration.”
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand wrote, “On the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter and social reformer Bharat Ratna Acharya Vinoba Bhave, I offer my utmost respect. Through the Bhoodan movement, he instilled hope in the lives of the landless, presenting a remarkable example of social harmony and voluntary sacrifice.”
Leaders from Haryana and Rajasthan also paid tribute, acknowledging Bhave’s contributions to social justice and the upliftment of the marginalized. Each leader echoed the sentiment that Bhave’s ideals continue to inspire efforts toward societal betterment.
