New Delhi, August 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 57th convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi as the chief guest on August 8, 2026, at 11 AM. He will address over 3,000 graduating students, including 587 PhD scholars receiving their degrees.
Recognizing academic excellence, the Prime Minister will present the institute’s most prestigious awards to outstanding students. These include the President’s Gold Medal, the Director’s Gold Medal, the Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal, and the Perfect Ten Gold Medal.
Emphasizing India’s commitment to cutting-edge research and artificial intelligence (AI), the Prime Minister will inaugurate the AI-powered high-performance supercomputing facility ‘Param Pragna’ at IIT Delhi’s Sonipat campus. This state-of-the-art facility is expected to significantly enhance the institute’s capabilities in AI, data science, advanced computing, and interdisciplinary research.
Earlier, on August 4, IIT Delhi and Cisco announced the launch of the ‘Cisco Technology Hub’ focusing on AI and cybersecurity. This collaborative initiative aims to advance research, develop skills, and strengthen the AI and cybersecurity ecosystem in the country.
This partnership combines Cisco’s technological expertise with IIT Delhi’s academic leadership to promote innovation, facilitate knowledge exchange, and prepare a highly skilled digital workforce. The technology hub aims to become a leading center for AI and cybersecurity research, innovation, and talent development in the Indo-Pacific region. By aligning with India’s digital transformation priorities and securing critical infrastructure, this three-year collaboration will enhance digital frameworks and security standards in partnership with government stakeholders. Additionally, it aims to address real-world challenges for a more robust digital ecosystem.
