Preparations Intensify for Amarnath Yatra 2026 as Security Measures Reviewed

Jammu, June 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have begun finalizing security preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2026, aiming for a safe, peaceful, and organized pilgrimage. On Saturday, Special DGP (Coordination) S.J.M. Gilani visited the Bhagwati Nagar base camp and Tawi River Front in Jammu, accompanied by senior officials to conduct a thorough inspection of security arrangements.

During the inspection, Gilani was joined by IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP CRPF, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, DIG Traffic, SSP Jammu, and SSP Security, among other senior officers. They reviewed the deployment of security forces at key pilgrimage sites, traffic management, and other arrangements.

The Special DGP emphasized the importance of maintaining better coordination among various security agencies. He instructed that security measures during the Amarnath Yatra 2026 should be robust, seamless, and coordinated to ensure that devotees face no inconvenience and that the pilgrimage proceeds peacefully.

Senior officials were briefed on the multi-layered security grid implemented along the pilgrimage route and at base camps. Security agencies reported that a comprehensive plan has been developed to ensure the safety of devotees at every stage of the journey. This includes deploying additional security forces at sensitive locations, strengthening surveillance systems, and ensuring rapid coordination among various agencies.

Officials also inspected the arrangements for the accommodation, entry, and exit of pilgrims at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp. Additionally, they assessed security resources and monitoring mechanisms in the Tawi River Front area to effectively address any potential challenges during the pilgrimage.

According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the safety of devotees during the Amarnath Yatra remains the top priority. Continuous coordination is being maintained between the police, central paramilitary forces, and other relevant agencies. Officials clarified that all necessary security standards will be adhered to along the pilgrimage route and at major stops.
