Tehran, October 12 (Daily Kiran) : Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, held a phone conversation on Sunday night with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, expressing concerns over escalating tensions in the region. Araghchi emphasized that military action will not resolve the ongoing crises.
According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, amid increasing tensions in the Gulf, Araghchi stated that there is no military solution to the regional crises. He expressed Tehran’s readiness to facilitate dialogue between Riyadh and Sanaa.
During their discussion, the two leaders reviewed the current situation and recent developments in the region. Araghchi voiced his worries about the rising tensions, asserting that focusing solely on military options while neglecting political solutions would complicate the situation further.
He reiterated that ignoring political resolutions in favor of military approaches would only exacerbate existing conditions. The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to assist in initiating dialogue between Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen to reach a political solution.
Tensions in the Gulf have been heightened due to the ongoing conflict between Saudi Arabia and Houthi rebels in Yemen. Houthi groups have been launching continuous attacks, with the Saudi-led coalition claiming to have intercepted a drone and a ballistic missile on Sunday.
According to a report from Xinhua News Agency, coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki announced on Monday that they successfully intercepted and destroyed a drone and a ballistic missile fired by the Houthi group. In statements shared on the social media platform X, al-Maliki indicated that the drone was intercepted in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, while the ballistic missile was aimed at Khamis Mushait in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
