
New Chandigarh, April 29: Prabhsimran Singh, the opener for Punjab Kings (PBKS), scored a remarkable half-century in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday. This achievement places him third on the list of players with the most half-centuries for PBKS in IPL history.
This was Prabhsimran’s 12th half-century for Punjab Kings. Since starting his IPL career in 2019, he has played all eight seasons for the team.
KL Rahul leads the list of players with the most half-centuries for Punjab Kings, having accomplished this feat 25 times. Following him is Shaun Marsh with 21 half-centuries, while Chris Gayle ranks fourth with 11.
In the match held at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Punjab Kings batted first after losing the toss, scoring 222 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Prabhsimran Singh partnered with Priyansh Arya to add 37 runs for the first wicket in just 2.5 overs. Priyansh scored 29 runs off 11 balls, hitting six boundaries before getting out. Following this, Prabhsimran and Cooper Connolly formed a partnership of 59 runs for the second wicket, which came off 33 balls. Cooper contributed 30 runs from 14 balls, including three sixes and two fours.
At one point, Punjab Kings had lost two wickets for just 96 runs in 8.2 overs. However, Prabhsimran then teamed up with captain Shreyas Iyer to build a solid score, adding 48 runs in 34 balls. Prabhsimran scored 59 runs off 44 balls, featuring one six and six fours, while Iyer added 30 runs.
After their dismissals, Marcus Stoinis made a significant impact, scoring an unbeaten 62 runs off 22 balls, partnering with Suryansh Hegde to add 41 runs in just 12 balls, leading the team to a total of 222/4. Yash Raj from the opposition claimed the most wickets, taking two, while Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger each took one wicket.
Under the captaincy of Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals fielded a team including Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Donovan Ferreira, Ravindra Jadeja, Dasun Shanaka, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, Brijesh Sharma, and Yash Raj Punja.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, included Prabhsimran Singh (wicketkeeper), Priyansh Arya, Cooper Connolly, Suryansh Shedge, Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal in their lineup.
