
Chandigarh, August 26: The Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 is set to commence this Sunday, featuring an opening match between Amritsar Surma and Mohali Kings. This exciting encounter will take place at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
Organized by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), the league will run from August 30 to September 13. Cricket stars from Punjab are gearing up for thrilling matches, showcasing both renowned and emerging talent from the region.
A total of six teams will compete for the title. Group A includes Mohali Kings, Fazilka Falcons, and Jalandhar Warriors, while Group B consists of Bathinda Royals, Amritsar Surma, and Ludhiana Lions. The tournament will feature 27 matches played in a round-robin format, with each team participating in eight league matches.
On the opening day, Amritsar Surma will face Mohali Kings, followed by Jalandhar Warriors taking on Fazilka Falcons in a day match on August 31. Later that evening, Mohali Kings will compete against Bathinda Royals. The matches will progress quickly, with Ludhiana Lions starting their campaign against Bathinda Royals on September 1.
Every match in this competition will be crucial, as teams strive to secure a spot in the knockout stage. At the conclusion of the league stage, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals. The trophy race will reach its climax on September 12, when two semifinals will be held. The first semifinal will feature the top team from Group A against the second-placed team from Group B, while the second semifinal will pit the top team from Group B against the second-placed team from Group A. The winners of both semifinals will clash in the final on September 13.
The player auction for the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League took place on August 9, with over 450 players participating.
