Thiruvananthapuram, July 1: Political speculations have intensified following the unexpected visit of former minister Kadakampally Surendran to the residence of Kerala’s Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala on Wednesday. The purpose of this meeting remains unclear.
Surendran, a prominent leader of the CPI(M), arrived on a scooter with another individual. He informed the media that he came to discuss a recommendation from his companion. However, he did not disclose the specifics of the recommendation.
The absence of any official clarification has fueled discussions in political circles, especially in light of ongoing activities related to the SIT investigation into the Sabarimala gold scam.
The timing of this meeting has also attracted attention. It is believed that the SIT is in the final stages of filing its charge sheet concerning the alleged scam. Notably, Surendran served as the Devaswom Minister during the period related to one of the two cases under investigation.
While there is no indication that Wednesday’s meeting was connected to the investigation, the sudden visit to the home minister’s official residence has raised questions in political circles.
Surendran, who represented Kazhakootam, was previously a legislator but lost his seat to BJP leader V. Muraleedharan in the assembly elections held in April. His visit has drawn attention for another reason as well; he was seen riding a scooter without a helmet after the meeting.
These images have raised concerns about whether this violation of traffic rules will lead to action under the Motor Vehicles Act, which includes Kerala’s AI-based traffic camera enforcement system.
With no official statements from either the Home Minister’s office or Surendran, this meeting has become a hot topic of political discussion, with ongoing speculation about the reasons behind this unexpected encounter.
