Police Investigate Migrant Worker in Kerala Double Homicide Case

Palakkad, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in Palakkad, Kerala, are investigating a migrant worker suspected of murdering his wife and five-year-old daughter. Their bodies were discovered dumped in bags along the banks of the Bhavani River in Attappady.

Police believe the suspect, originally from West Bengal, may have committed the brutal killings shortly after arriving in the area with his family about 20 days ago. Evidence suggests he harbored suspicions about his wife, providing investigators with a possible motive for the crime.

The victims were also from West Bengal, which reinforces the theory that this case involves a migrant family. However, their identities have not yet been conclusively established. A significant breakthrough in the investigation occurred when one of the bags used to dispose of the bodies was found.

Inscribed on the bag were details indicating it had been transported from a shop in Coimbatore to Kottathara in Attappady. Police are currently examining the bag’s batch numbers and other markings to trace its origin.

Following this lead, the Puthur police have initiated an extensive investigation, scrutinizing wholesale and retail shops near Attappady and the Tamil Nadu border. They are also reviewing CCTV footage to identify who purchased or delivered the bags.

The dismembered remains were discovered near Chirakkadavu by local livestock herders, who alerted the authorities. Forensic analysis revealed that the victims had likely died at least four days prior, and the condition of the bodies suggests they were attacked with a sharp weapon. The remains were wrapped in plastic and stuffed into bags before being discarded in the river.

Investigators suspect the murders may have occurred elsewhere, with the bodies transported to the river to eliminate evidence. They are also examining the river’s strong currents in the days leading up to the discovery of the bodies. A special police team is actively searching for the suspect, expanding the investigation to West Bengal and neighboring states, with hopes of resolving the case soon.
