New Delhi, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar welcomed Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel during his three-day visit to New Delhi. The meeting, held at Hyderabad House, underscored the growing partnership between the two nations.
Jaishankar expressed his pleasure in hosting Bettel and his delegation, noting that this visit reflects the deepening ties between India and Luxembourg. He highlighted the close dialogue between leaders of both countries in recent years, recalling a virtual summit held in 2020 and another planned for 2024.
The minister emphasized that trade, investment, and financial cooperation form the bedrock of their relationship. Additionally, he mentioned expanding collaboration in areas like space, digital technology, and green technology. Jaishankar also pointed out their mutual interest in the health sector, particularly the significant partnership developed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In light of global uncertainties, Jaishankar remarked on the reliability of the relationship between India and Luxembourg. He noted that this partnership has achieved much and fosters a strong sense of trust between the two countries.
He also discussed the importance of strengthening and diversifying supply chains, which plays a critical role in their cooperation. With the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) approval process advancing, Jaishankar sees new opportunities on the horizon.
Concluding the meeting, he thanked Luxembourg for its robust support of the FTA, stating that their assistance has brought the agreement closer to finalization and implementation.
