Maulana Nadim Siddiqui Advocates Respect for Religious Events Amid Controversies

Saharanpur, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : Maulana Hafiz Nadim Siddiqui has responded to recent controversies surrounding the demolition of a mosque in Saharanpur and guidelines issued by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) regarding Garba celebrations. He emphasized that Garba and Dandiya are sacred events for the Hindu community. If organizers prefer that individuals from other religions do not participate, he believes Muslim youth should respect that choice. He also urged for minimal interference in religious matters.

Siddiqui appealed to Muslim youth to avoid attending events that may cause discomfort to the organizers. He stressed the importance of honoring the religious practices of all communities. Regarding the use of DJs and loudspeakers, he pointed out existing laws and Supreme Court guidelines that prohibit their use after 10 PM. He insisted that these regulations should apply uniformly across all religions.

He further stated that these rules are not exclusive to one faith; they should be enforced equally for everyone. If violations occur, he called for police action without targeting any specific community.

Responding to recent comments by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Siddiqui noted that while Bhagwat often makes such statements, there seems to be a gap between his words and actions. He expressed willingness to support Bhagwat if he genuinely works towards fostering communal harmony in the country.

Siddiqui highlighted that merely making statements is insufficient; the RSS and the government should implement these ideas on the ground. He claimed that ongoing issues surrounding minorities are tarnishing India’s image.

He accused the current government of targeting Muslims through its policies and attempting to incite Hindu-Muslim tensions via disputes over religious sites. Citing the 1991 law concerning places of worship, he insisted that legal protocols regarding religious sites must be respected. He reiterated that the country operates under the Constitution, which should be honored by all parties involved.

Regarding the mosque incident in Saharanpur, Siddiqui referenced claims by the mosque committee stating that the mosque has existed for over a century. He criticized the hasty actions taken and pointed out that if the administrative order was to be challenged, the concerned parties had the option to approach the High Court or Supreme Court. He suggested that there are attempts to stir Hindu-Muslim issues ahead of the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh.

On the future course of action for the Jamiat, Siddiqui confirmed that the matter would be taken to court, expressing hope for justice from the High Court regarding the Saharanpur mosque situation. He urged all citizens to be vigilant against any efforts to escalate communal tensions. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the country’s ‘Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb’ and the tradition of brotherhood. While governments may change, the Constitution and national unity remain of utmost significance.

Siddiqui also called for serious consideration of allegations against those who oppose government policies. He noted that concerns are being raised not only about Muslims but also about Dalits and other communities. He reinforced the need for fair enforcement of laws related to religious events, mosques, and other places of worship. He concluded by stating that the effective implementation of existing laws is more critical than creating new ones.
