Bratislava, June 13: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to France and Slovakia starting Saturday. Slovakia’s President Peter Pellegrini expressed his enthusiasm, stating that PM Modi’s visit will pave the way for new opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.
President Pellegrini wrote on the social media platform X, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I am eager to welcome you to Bratislava on Monday. Your historic visit will advance our fruitful discussions from New Delhi and open new avenues for Slovakia-India cooperation.”
Before embarking on his foreign trip, PM Modi announced that he will be visiting France from June 13 to 18 at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron and Slovakia at the invitation of Prime Minister Robert Fico.
In February of this year, French President Macron visited India, where he participated in an AI summit. He also met with PM Modi to discuss deepening collaboration between the two countries.
PM Modi highlighted France’s special place in India’s strategic outlook. Earlier this year, President Macron visited India, and together they elevated the bilateral relationship to a significant global strategic partnership. PM Modi mentioned that he will meet President Macron in Nice.
During this visit, PM Modi and Macron will review developments that have occurred since February and outline the next steps for cooperation between the two nations. The Prime Minister expressed his anticipation of discussing essential global issues of mutual interest with the French President.
On June 14, 2026, PM Modi will inaugurate ‘India Innovates 2026’ with President Macron in Nice. Following this, he will visit Slovakia, becoming the first Prime Minister to make an official visit since Slovakia’s independence in 1993.
During this historic trip, top leadership will emphasize strengthening the ties between the two countries. Regarding his visit to Slovakia, PM Modi stated, “I look forward to discussions with President Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava. I will also have the opportunity to engage with Slovak business leaders. This visit will enhance our strategic partnership with the European Union, of which Slovakia is a vital and important member, while advancing the pace of the India-EU free trade agreement.”
