New Delhi, June 13: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described his upcoming visits to France and Slovakia as forward-looking. Before his departure, PM Modi emphasized the significance of this tour and outlined the scheduled events. He will be visiting France and Slovakia from June 13 to June 18, 2026, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
The Ministry of External Affairs released a statement from PM Modi, in which he stated, “France holds a special place in our strategic outlook. During President Macron‘s visit to India earlier this year, our relationship was elevated to the status of ‘Special Global Strategic Partnership.’ I will meet President Macron in Nice, where we will review the progress made since February and advance future cooperation plans. We will also discuss global issues of mutual interest.”
In Nice, on June 14, 2026, the Prime Minister will inaugurate ‘India Innovates’ alongside President Macron. This event is part of the “India-France Year of Innovation,” aimed at connecting emerging Indian startups with global investors and promoting innovations from the country’s higher education institutions.
Following this, PM Modi will embark on a two-day state visit to Slovakia from June 14 to June 15. He noted, “This will be the first visit by any Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993. In Bratislava, I will hold talks with President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico, and meet with key figures from Slovakia’s industry. This visit will further accelerate progress towards a free trade agreement between India and the European Union.”
PM Modi added, “From Slovakia, I will travel to Evian, where I will participate in the G7 summit on June 16 and 17. India’s presence at the G7 reflects our partners’ trust and our global role. This marks the eighth consecutive time India has been invited to the G7. At this platform, India will not only share its views but also amplify the voice of the Global South.”
On June 18, 2026, the Prime Minister will join President Macron at the VivaTech 2026 event in Paris. This is Europe’s leading technology and innovation platform, and this year, India will have its largest national pavilion. This symbolizes the growing collaboration between India and Europe’s innovation ecosystems. PM Modi expressed, “I look forward to meeting members of the Indian community in Paris, who play a vibrant role as a bridge between our two nations.”
The Prime Minister hopes that this tour will strengthen India’s growing ties with Europe and the G7, further solidifying the shared commitment to expanding global partnerships.
