Kiren Rijiju Accuses Congress of Using AI Images to Inflate Rally Attendance
Kiren Rijiju claims Congress manipulated rally crowd sizes using AI images, stirring controversy over attendance figures.

New Delhi, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Central Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has raised allegations against the Congress party, claiming they used AI-generated images to exaggerate attendance at the ‘India’ alliance rally held at Ramleela Maidan in Delhi on Sunday. Rijiju accused the party of misleading the public regarding the crowd size.
In a post on the social media platform X, Rijiju criticized the Congress party’s team for creating what he termed a “fake narrative,” asserting that the AI-generated photo meant to depict a packed Ramleela Maidan was poorly executed. He also shared an image that included a photo posted by a Congress MP from Telangana, which reportedly showed a large crowd at the opposition rally.
Many users on X questioned the authenticity of this image, suggesting it was artificially created. The photos featured AI-generated images of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi that appeared significantly different from their actual presence on stage.
This controversy erupted amid a heated debate between the BJP and Congress regarding the number of attendees at the ‘Chalo Delhi’ rally, which aimed to demand the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Following the rally, the BJP labeled the event a “flop show,” arguing that the crowd size was nowhere near the claims made by the opposition.
The BJP challenged Congress’s assertion that 1 million people attended the rally, suggesting that even the leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, failed to fill Ramleela Maidan. During a press conference after the event, BJP MP Sambit Patra presented a video showing that approximately 40 percent of the venue was empty.
Patra stated that viewers could see the significant empty spaces in the background, contradicting Congress’s claims of a million attendees. He further claimed that of the 28,000 chairs set up, between 5,000 to 7,000 remained unoccupied from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM, undermining the party’s assertion of massive turnout.
He also referenced Congress’s ongoing accusations regarding “special intensive revision” of voter lists, highlighting the disparity between their claims and the reality observed at the rally. This incident, Patra argued, exposed the truth behind Congress’s inflated attendance figures and suggested the party resorted to trick photography to project a larger presence.
