New Delhi, May 4: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to form its government for the third time in Assam. Current trends indicate that the BJP is likely to secure a significant majority.
During the recent assembly election campaign, the party’s leadership worked diligently to strengthen trust among its workers and the public. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s campaign efforts have provided the party with a crucial advantage. His direct connection with tea garden workers in Upper Assam has yielded substantial political benefits, which are reflected in the election results.
In the Dibrugarh tea belt, PM Modi‘s direct interactions with laborers, the implementation of welfare schemes at the grassroots level, and consistent political engagement have garnered strong support for the BJP. This region is emerging as a solid stronghold for the party.
In the tea belt, the BJP is leading in all six constituencies: Dibrugarh, Chabua-Lahoal, Duliajan, Tingkhong, Naharkatia, and Khowang, with substantial margins. In contrast, the Congress party has performed poorly. The BJP’s lead is not only stable but in several areas, the margin of victory could be quite large, indicating a clear shift in voter sentiment.
According to the Election Commission’s results data, the NDA is ahead in more than 102 of Assam’s 126 assembly seats. The BJP has won 71 out of 82 seats and is leading in 11 more.
The NDA’s key allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), have also performed impressively, each leading in 10 seats. Meanwhile, Congress has secured 9 out of 19 seats and is ahead in 10 others.
