
Hajipur, June 15: The General Manager of Eastern Central Railway, Chhatrasal Singh, conducted a window trailing inspection of the Patliputra-Shahpur Patori-Baruni-Naugachia rail section on Monday. During the inspection, the GM reviewed various stations, bridges, overhead electrification systems, track infrastructure, and safety measures.
Additionally, the GM inspected the construction site of the Vikramshila-Kataria new line project. He visited Naugachia station and then proceeded to the upper part of the construction site towards Kataria.
The GM also examined the construction site located towards Bhagalpur and the new station site. According to Saraswati Chandra, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Central Railway, this project includes the construction of a 2.44 km long double-line bridge over the Ganges River, with the tender process already completed. The design and drawings for the main bridge are expected to be finalized within the next three months, after which construction will commence. Additionally, 180 hectares of land will be acquired for the railway lines on both sides of the main bridge.
More than half of this 180 hectares consists of private land, and the acquisition process has already begun.
It is noteworthy that the Vikramshila-Kataria new line project, costing ₹2,549 crores, will span 26 km near Bhagalpur over the Ganges River. This project will also feature a 2.44 km long double-line bridge over the river.
The Vikramshila-Kataria new line project connects Vikramshila station on the Bhagalpur-Sahibganj rail line and Kataria station on the Katihar-Baruni rail line. The railway bridge over the Ganges will be Y-shaped, linking Kataria and Naugachia to the north and Vikramshila and Shivnaryanpur stations to the south. This bridge will enhance connectivity between Bihar’s Kosi and Seemanchal regions and the rest of the state.
