Trump and Macron Discuss Iran Deal and Oil Prices Ahead of G7 Summit

Washington, June 16: Ahead of the G7 summit, U.S. President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron held significant discussions in France. The agenda included the Iran deal, oil prices, and various global issues.

According to the White House, President Trump emphasized the importance of his friendship with Macron, stating, “Emmanuel has been a special friend. Our relationship has been fantastic, and we have worked together on many agreements.”

Trump noted that the Strait of Hormuz has partially reopened, allowing ships to begin departing. He predicted that by Friday, it would be fully operational.

The U.S. President highlighted that positive outcomes from the agreement are already visible, with commercial vessels resuming their passage through the Strait, one of the world’s most vital oil routes. The deal has been fully signed, and the Strait is now partially open.

Trump arrived in France for the Group of Seven (G7) summit, where he and Macron met during the event in Évian. Both leaders described a new agreement with Iran as a significant step toward reducing tensions in the Middle East.

At the start of the meeting, Macron stated, “I believe that a peace agreement with Iran is crucial. It will address the nuclear issue and is essential for global peace.”

He added that this agreement is vital for stability in the region and could aid peace efforts in Lebanon. “It will bring peace to Lebanon, and we are ready to contribute appropriately and support this agreement alongside the international community,” he concluded.
