New Delhi, February 2: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond on February 4 to the discussion on the Thanks Motion related to the President’s address.
The marathon debate began on Monday with Sarbananda Sonowal initiating the discussion. Five prominent BJP speakers are participating, reflecting the party’s significant share of the total 18-hour debate scheduled over three days. Rijiju explained that the NDA will have about 55 percent of the speaking time. After Sonowal’s presentation, Tejasvi Surya will support the motion, followed by opposition leaders’ speeches.
Following the Thanks Motion debate on the President’s address, a detailed discussion on the Union Budget will take place. Rijiju criticized the opposition for persistently ignoring the positive aspects of the budget and accused them of deliberately overlooking the government’s achievements.
He highlighted the substantial increase in capital expenditure under the current government compared to the previous UPA regime, noting it has reached nearly ₹12.5 lakh crore. Rijiju also accused the Congress of spreading negativity and misleading the public regarding the budget.
Emphasizing India’s rising global economic stature, Rijiju said many countries are eager to sign free trade agreements with India. He pointed out that India has moved up from merely importing mobile phones to becoming an exporter, a progress the opposition refuses to acknowledge.
