New Delhi, August 27: The situation remains critical following devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Nepal’s Rasuwa district. According to the latest data released by the Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 403 Nepali and foreign tourists are currently unreachable. Among them, 133 are Indian tourists, raising significant concern in India.
Nepalese authorities report that the unreachable tourists include 62 Nepalis, 47 Americans, 34 Australians, 33 British, and 24 Canadians. Citizens from Malaysia, Ukraine, Singapore, South Africa, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Belarus, Finland, Hungary, Israel, Lithuania, Portugal, and the Philippines are also among the missing.
Officials have clarified that the verification process is ongoing. There are fears that the number of missing Indians may rise as complete details of several travelers and tourists are still unavailable.
The severe flooding in Rasuwa has caused significant damage to both tourism activities and local infrastructure. Rescue and relief agencies are actively conducting operations in affected areas, searching for those who remain unreachable.
In light of the serious flood situation, the Maharashtra government has initiated a special helpline and information system to assist its citizens and tourists stranded in Nepal. The Maharashtra State Disaster Management Authority has released an online link to gather information about citizens trapped in Nepal and provide necessary assistance.
The state control room, located in the ministry, is operational 24/7. Affected citizens and their families are urged to report if they have any relatives or acquaintances stranded in Nepal.
A toll-free helpline number, 1070, and a control room number, +91-9321587143, have also been issued by the state control room.
The state government has requested families to provide details such as the name, mobile number, current location or hotel in Nepal, travel information, and family contact numbers of individuals stranded in Nepal to facilitate relief and rescue operations.
Amid ongoing rescue and relief efforts in Nepal, Indian and Nepali agencies are working in close coordination. Authorities state that efforts to locate missing individuals and provide assistance to affected citizens are being conducted at a war footing.
