Prime Minister Narendra Modis Seychelles Visit Yields Significant Outcomes

Victoria, June 29: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concluded his three-day state visit to Seychelles, describing it as fruitful and filled with significant outcomes.

PM Modi shared highlights of his successful trip on the social media platform X, posting a video clip with the message, “My visit to Seychelles has been rich in solid and important results, which will further strengthen the friendship between India and Seychelles.”

He emphasized the importance of the past 50 years as a foundation for the next 50 years of prosperity. “I can confidently say that our relations have been built on deep trust and shared progress over the last fifty years. The next fifty years will be defined by innovation, sustainable development, and shared prosperity,” he added.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction, stating, “I am pleased to inform you that my visit has also helped improve Seychelles-European Union (EU) relations, yielding concrete results.”

During his visit, PM Modi attended Seychelles’ National Day celebrations as the chief guest. He remarked, “I am also delighted to have the opportunity to participate in Seychelles’ National Day celebrations, especially at a time when the country is marking its 50 years of independence. I sincerely thank President Herminie, the government of Seychelles, its people, and the warm welcome extended to me.”

Notably, PM Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to attend Seychelles’ Independence Day celebrations, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles.

In terms of achievements, India and Seychelles announced 19 important agreements and declarations, including an extradition treaty and the initiation of UPI-based digital payments.

In the final phase of his Seychelles tour, PM Modi paid tribute at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Peace Park and interacted with members of the Indian community who gathered to welcome him. The community, waving the Indian flag, chanted “Modi-Modi” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai.”

PM Modi shared several photos on X, stating, “Paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Peace Park in Victoria. Bapu’s ideals have united generations in the pursuit of peace, justice, and human dignity. His thoughts continue to inspire our collective efforts for a better world.”
