New Delhi, March 31: Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Lok Sabha during discussions aimed at eradicating left-wing extremism from the country. He presented data and clarified the government’s policies on this issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Shah’s speech, calling it excellent and rich in significant facts, historical context, and the efforts made by the government over the past decade.
Modi noted on social media that for decades, Maoist ideology has adversely affected development in many regions. He emphasized that left-wing extremism has ruined the futures of countless youth. Over the last decade, the government has worked to uproot this menace and ensure that development benefits reach areas affected by Naxalism. The focus remains on promoting good governance and ensuring peace and prosperity for all.
During the discussion on Naxalism, Home Minister Amit Shah delivered an approximately 85-minute speech. He provided detailed information about recent security operations against Naxalites and initiatives for those who surrender.
Shah also criticized Rahul Gandhi during his address, stating that Gandhi has often been seen with sympathizers of Naxalites throughout his political career. He mentioned that several Naxal front organizations participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, and he has records to prove this.
He recounted an incident from 2010 when Gandhi shared a stage in Odisha with Lado Shikoka, who delivered inflammatory speeches and adorned Gandhi with a garland. In 2018, Gandhi met with Gumadi Vitthal Rao, known for his ideological proximity to Naxalism. Shah highlighted that when 172 soldiers were killed, slogans emerged at India Gate questioning how many more would be killed, a video of which Gandhi himself tweeted. He accused Gandhi of supporting Naxalism from 1970 until March 2026.
