New Delhi, September 26 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi showcased a different side of himself on the evening of September 26, 2026, as he attended the ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ event at Dindayal Upadhyay Park in New Delhi. Sitting in the front row among Gen Z attendees, he was seen clapping and playing the khanjari to the rhythm of devotional songs.
Modi shared a video of the event on Instagram, captioning it with a playful question, “Did you tap your feet while watching this?”
The ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ phenomenon is rapidly gaining popularity among young people, particularly from Generation Z. It combines traditional bhajans and kirtans with modern music styles, aiming to connect the youth with spirituality. This particular event was held to commemorate the 110th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Sangh.
In the video, Modi is seen immersed in the performance, enjoying the devotional atmosphere as singers and musicians entertain the audience. Earlier in the day, he paid tribute to Upadhyay on social media platform X, stating, “I pay my respects to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Ji on his birth anniversary. He believed that uplifting the most marginalized sections of society was the foundation of nation-building and introduced us to the philosophy of Antyodaya, which continues to inspire welfare initiatives today.”
The Prime Minister encouraged citizens to embrace Upadhyay’s ideals, urging them to reaffirm their commitment to fulfilling their social and national responsibilities on this significant occasion.
Deendayal Upadhyay was born on September 25, 1916, and was a key leader of the Bharatiya Janata Sangh and a thinker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He launched the monthly magazine ‘Rashtra Dharma’ in the 1940s to promote the revival of Hindutva.
