Srinagar, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah introduced several significant bills in the state assembly on September 28, aimed at simplifying business operations and amending pension laws.
During the ongoing autumn session, Abdullah presented a bill designed to decriminalize certain offenses and streamline legal processes. This legislation seeks to repeal outdated laws and clarify related provisions.
Additionally, the Chief Minister introduced the Jammu and Kashmir Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026, which promotes a rules-based governance system rather than a permission-based one. This shift aims to enhance citizens’ and businesses’ confidence in planning, investing, and operating within the region.
The bill targets the improvement of the business environment in Jammu and Kashmir, aspiring to create jobs, attract investment, and sustain long-term economic growth. The Ease of Doing Business Bill has already been published in a special edition of the official gazette.
Furthermore, Abdullah also presented a bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature Members Pension Act of 1984. This amendment, labeled as LA Bill No. 15 of 2026, has also been published in the official gazette.
